Patient Accomodations

We've created a comforting environment...

Arroyo Grande Community Hospital recently completed a major remodeling of its facilities, including a beautiful outdoor courtyard area for use by visitors, patients and staff. Through the "Adopt a Room" program, each patient room is uniquely decorated. These attractive, restful rooms provide patients a more home like atmosphere in which to recuperate.

Our facility offers comfortable semi-private rooms for our patients. Each room is equipped with a telephone for local calls. Calling cards are required for long distance service. Our rooms also feature televisions offering local and basic cable programming.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided during your stay. All dietary requests are honored when in concert with your physician's orders. Our nurses, support staff and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital volunteers will attend to your needs during your stay.

ADOPT A ROOM PROGRAM

The "Adopt A Room" program offers the community an opportunity to touch countless lives for years to come. Through tax deductible donations, the hospital has transformed its standard rooms into uniquely decorated rooms, designed to enhance the surroundings of those who are hospitalized, contribute to a patient's speedier recovery, and create a more homelike setting in the hospital. Donors helped select wallpaper, curtains, and furniture to create the individualized theme of their room, and are recognized with a plaque affixed outside their room. Each of Arroyo Grande Community Hospital's 38 rooms have been "adopted", and other areas in the hospital are being identified for improvement.

Anyone interested in participating in this program should call (805) 489-4261 ext. 4111.

Preparing for Hospitalization

Staying in the hospital can be disruptive to your daily routine. If you are scheduling your surgery or hospital visit, there are several things you can do to prepare. To ensure a smooth admitting process and to make your stay more comfortable, we suggest the following:

  • protective cases for your eyeglasses, hearing aids and contact lenses
  • a list of medications and herbal suppliments you are taking and information on how much and how often
  • for outpatient services, bring your doctor's order for the diagnosic test(s) you will receive

Valuables

Please do not bring valuables to the hospital. If possible, limit your belongings to clothing and toilet articles. Please be very careful with your glasses, hearing aids and dentures. Keep those items in their proper storage cases when not in use.

Medications

All medications you take during your hospitalizations must be dispensed by our Pharmacy. Personal medications are not allowed at the bedside. We encourage you to leave your medications at home. However, your medications may sometimes be stored in the Pharmacy and dispensed by the nurse with your physician's order.
